Elemental Alloying Capabilities:

Valimet's Pilot atomizer can produce metal powders with custom alloy composition designed for a specific application.  Alloys with melting temperatures up to 2500 F can be atomized in quantities from 100 pounds to 100 tons.  This versatile system can operate under a variety of conditions to achieve a desired cooling rate, particle size distribution or shape.  The Pilot Plant is also used to test process improvements and innovative equipment designs.  Once these technologies are proven successful, they are integrated into our main production systems.

Typical aluminum alloys include AA 2000, 6000, 7000 and 8000 series, high purity aluminum (99.9%+), as well as proprietary alloys.  Here is a table describing Valimet's alloying element capabilities.  The oxygen content of these powders can be controlled within a range from 300 to 5000 ppm.  The typical particle size distributions range from 3 to 200 microns and may be classified to precise sizing parameters.
