Long story short, it’s better to pre-alloy Zirconium and Scandium, or at least, to use an Aluminum-based Master Alloy.
The alloy Al-7Ce-10Mg-0.71Zr-0.23Sc has been tested for LPBF by Northwestern University, in collaboration with Eck Industries, Inc. U.S. Army DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory.
Clement Ekaputra, David Weiss and other co-authors have compared different addition technique for Zirconium and Scandium with an interesting microstructural analysis that made the list on our Literature page.
