Process

VALIMET’s atomization process begins by taking a selected metal (or alloy) and firing it until it has reached the molten state. The molten metal is allowed to flow from a crucible and then fed through a high-pressure nozzle. Various nozzles and inert gasses are used to control the diverse sizes and powder properties available. The plume that emerges from the nozzle consists of fine, rapidly solidifying particles that quickly cool as they fall into a collection chamber. This process enables production of closely controlled particle sizes ranging from 200 microns to 2 microns. VALIMET incorporates multiple powder sizing methods for flexibility to screen, classify and blend to meet the most stringent particle size specifications.
