We are thrilled to announce that we were awarded a Phase I grant by the Defense Logistics Agency. Out of 180 proposals received, VALIMET’s one was among of the ten winners.
The solicitation was “for research to expand production of Scandium-containing material. These alloys have superior damage tolerance compared to current industry standard alloys and can extend the operational life of fixed and rotary wing aircraft with on-demand printing of replacement parts. This reduces lifecycle costs and extends mission capability”.
Awards for this solicitation went to Quadrus Corporation of Huntsville, Alabama; VALIMET, Inc. of Stockton, California; and Terves Inc. of Euclid, Ohio.
Words from our VP of Sales and Marketing, Luigi Alzati, who coordinated the project and attended the ceremony:
“We would like to thank the DLA for the award and for the kind words that were addressed to VALIMET during the ceremony by DLA Vice Director Brad Bunn and Deputy Director of DLA Acquisition, George Atwood.
It’s been a great honor to meet in person the DLA Director, Army Maj. Gen. Mark T. Simerly and listen to his compelling presentation of the new DLA Strategic Plan, minutes before it was made public.
Also, we would like to thank all the companies that offered us a Letter of Support: we’re working together to create and validate a US-based value chain for Scandium-Aluminum parts based on gas-atomized spherical powders.
This is a major metallurgical and organizational challenge that fits VALIMET and its partners’ DNA”.
