Propellants and the value at the Surface

July 31, 2025

“Depth must be hidden. Where? On the surface”, Hugo von Hoffmannsthal warned us. Some of us listened: we just added to our Literature page a fine work that brought together Texas Tech University and Purdue University.

The topic of nano-sized enhancers to reactivity of propellants is still matter of discussion and this contribute may intrigue you, as the researchers tried to extend to micron-sized powders what was learnt in terms of surface hydration of nano-sized powders.

The works has Mahmuda Ishrat Malek as main author, Diane Collard as second author and was carried under the supervision of renown Professors Michelle Pantoya and Steve Son.
We at VALIMET, Inc. salute any collaboration among fine minds.

Also, we’re grateful that VALIMET Aluminum Alloy powders were used for this work and we look forward to what these Research teams will bring for the future of Energetic Materials.
